Kopitiam - a Hokkien dialect (Chinese) to describe a open-spaced ''coffee-shop'' (tiam is shop in Hokkien). Normally, those ah Peks and ah Mahs (Uncles and Aunties) will have their breakfast/brunch/lunch in this eating house & will voice out their opinions from the newsprint. This is what this blog will do, sit back & enjoy ........

'Make A Toast' from The Star
People who have a daily glass or two of wine or beer are in better heatlh than those who abstain. Mental benefits - those who drink one glass of wine a week did better in cognitive tests than teetotallers.
Cheers to all!

long time no blog.
dr ling had resigned and replaced by ong ka ting for mca's president few weeks ago.
pirated vcds and dvds peddlers had been badly hit by police raids. so, nowadays, not easy to buy copies.
these few weeks, klse stock market is very bullish. my 'ham yee' (dead salted fish) shares had now evolve into 'live ikan bilis/anchovies'. time to unload some to minimize the realised loss. today, sold rhythms which went up very high, as this share looks like being played by the syndicate. m-plant is also looking good too. i'm much happy financially but social well-beings is not too good.
tonite, drove to petaling street for dinner and the place changes quite a fair bit. high roof is being installed on the road to cover those street peddlers, and vcds and dvds peddlers are not visible except one guy asked whether i need some x-rated vcd. they used some other front store as a cover-up. went over to toyota showroom along federal highway to check on the new toyota vios. looks good from outside but when i touched the car body, it feels like milo tin and the car door and bonnet are not easy to close. still prefer my italian alfa romeo car. ok time to head to bed as it is now 2:57 am saturday morning. good nite.

Iraq war by USA, UK had almost came to an end. Saddam is nowhere to be seen. Been watching CNN, BBC etc quite a fair bit on this war's coverage.

SARS virus is in the news too. Malaysia had two deaths now and China, HK, Singapore and Canada are quites badly impacted by this virus.

Dead and more dead - Farewell to Leslie Cheung (HK singer, famous song is 'Foong Kai Cheok Chui'/Winds keep blowing on) who committed suicide by jumping down from a hotel two weeks ago. Had watched his last movie 'Inner Instinct', which rumor claimed had somehow impacted his well-beings as the movie supposedly shown he was to jump down from a tall building, after haunted by his ex-girlfriend who committed suicide after he ditched her.

Farewell too to Daijiro Katoh, No. 74 Motogp Honda racer who crashed at 200 KMH into a wall during the first 2003 MotoGP race in Suzuka circuit (Japan), the second MotoGP's circuit I'd been to beside Sepang Circuit (M'sia). He was in coma for almost two weeks and died on Saturday, leaving behind two kids and a wife.

May god bless your souls..............

Well, this is a gloomy posting and I pray for a better world soon.

Today's headline 'Iraq on war alert' looks like war is coming soon unless some miracle
come on time to avert this war. A lot of embassies had closed in Iraq and people had
been asked to leave Iraq. Bush had said Monday is the day they will make decision
on this. Not the right time to commit on any major purchase eg house or car. But,
went to a Dataran Prima Condominium launch in Petaling Jaya on Saturday (next to
Aman Suria new residential area). A lot of units were snapped up on the 1st day of
launch. I could see only 3-4 units left by the time I left at 11:30 am, out of 210 units
that were being offered to be sold to publics. Std unit costs between RM 209K to
RM 279K for 3-bedrooms (1407 square feet). Anyway, some KL people are still
bullish about the property market, buying up whatever looks good for future
investment. As for me, cash is still better now till we see more clearer picture of
the future soon, hopefully, bt next few days. Cheers for now.
